Mark Dahn

Mark Dahn was born in 1956 and has lived most of his life in Seattle, Washington. He comes from a family of professional artists, all living and working in the Pacific Northwest.

Mark's background begins in his early teens when he began studying jewelry making. He has worked since 1980 as a full-time jewelry designer. In 1989 Mark started his own business, Eclipse Jewelry Design, designing and manufacturing a wildlife jewelry line of over 30 different animal species.

With a desire to work in a larger scale, Mark began casting bronze sculpture in 1997 and sculpting in stone shortly thereafter. Working in the different mediums affords him the opportunity to explore the possibilities of both the additive and subtractive processes, and Mark feels that one invariably helps the other. The same holds true for Mark's exploration of both the abstract and the representational. Each informs the other and hopefully something can be learned from each piece.
